Anook, Manjuk, Nikita and two dozen other huskies keep one brown eye and one blue eye on the local herds of red deer and, with a bit of luck, even the elk families around the small town of Tambach-Dietharz. When the pastures are covered in snow, they guide nature lovers of all ages through the beautiful forest landscapes. They’ll take you on sleigh rides through all kinds of weather, on runners, wheels or on foot, and, of course, always with harnesses around their waists. Doesn’t that sound exciting? How about an alpaca selfie? Or a children’s birthday party where you can cuddle with llamas? Or how about a relaxing trekking tour with real live bactrian camels? Alpacas have often been referred to as the ‘Dolphins of the pasture’. They travel in herds of 20, and they teach the adults composure, the little ones patience, and they all learn the art of spitting in the face of everyday stress.
